Electrical Engineer

Location: Southall, Greater London

Salary/Rate: £17 – £19/hour depends on experience

We are looking for an Experienced Electrical Engineer for a Food Manufacturer on behalf of our Engineering Facilities Management client.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: –

  • Routinely inspecting electrical system on plant, equipment and site infrastructure
  • Installation, maintenance, servicing and fault finding on a wide range of electrical systems, facilities equipment and infrastructure installations across the site
  • Undertaking planned maintenance and repairs on equipment as required
  • Liaise with contractors in the electrical maintenance of specialist systems
  • To work in conjunction with all other facilities trades on the site, as and when required
  • To provide an integral response to any emergency incidents and to assist appropriately based on the situation arising
  • To carry out any other reasonable duties as required, including assistance on other facilities related works, projects, special events, etc.
  • Drive continuous improvement and proactive electrical working across the sites
  • Adhering to safety, compliance and performance standards as required by law, site and current legislation.
  • Ability to use electrical/electronic testing equipment to such as multi-meters, ammeters, etc. to troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Use hand and power tools related to the electrical trades
  • Use computerised maintenance system (CMMS) to enter and retrieve maintenance activities, information and technical data
  • Continuous review and improvement of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) practices, content and frequency
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining scheduled maintenance programs for plant and equipment.  
  • Support and / or supervise appointed specialist Subcontractors and outsourced Service Providers.

Qualifications / Education / Training:

  • Electrical Qualifications – Installation competence:  C&G 2330/2351/2355 or C&G 236 Parts A&B or C&G 2360 Parts 1&2 or C&G 2365 Level 2&3 or 2356 NVQ with a recognised Apprenticeship With Certificate for the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: 2008 (2382- 12, 15 or 20); for 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Electrical Inspection and Testing: C&G 2391-10 or C&G 2394/2395
  • H&S qualifications: IOSH Working (or Supervising) Safely or Contractor Safety Certification Scheme (CSCS Card) or equivalent/higher.
  • Legionella L8 awareness training
  • Asbestos awareness training

Experience:

  • Track record of maintenance role in a technical capacity, preferably within the FMCG sector.
  • Experience using CMMS.
  • Experience of food manufacturing.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding and working knowledge of computers, software packages.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of maintenance regimes, record keeping, auditing requirements, Lock Out Tag Out.
  • Good working knowledge of Health Safety and Environmental responsibilities

Competence and experience of facilities and utilities services – i.e. compressed air, refrigeration, cooling towers, HVAC, Water Services, Waste Management, Electrical Services, etc

Awareness of Health and Safety requirements / Permit to Work (PTW) procedures

Able to liaise with Customer Stake Holders, Account Management and to manage the site Service Teams autonomously.

Ability to suggest and provide feasibility reports on improvement initiatives and plans

Experience of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook

Knowledge of PLC systems and ability to fault find

This is a Temp to Perm role or could be a straight permanent role for the right candidate.
