Audit Associate

Are you a part qualified ACA/ACCA accountant looking for a new challenge within audit? We are recruiting on behalf of a dynamic, Top 20 accountancy practice for an Audit Associate to join the firm’s Corporate Audit Team at its office in Reading.

This role will predominantly focus on audit with an approximate split being 80/20 audit to accounts and is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking firm that is experiencing an exciting period of growth.

Reporting to a senior team member, the key responsibilities of the Audit Associate will include:

·Acting as the first point of contact for clients on a day-to-day basis, anticipating client needs and communicating with them effectively

·Assisting in the planning, execution and finalisation of all areas of the audit assignment for manager or partner review, providing solutions and raising areas of concern

·Acting with integrity at all times with the firm’s best interests in mind

·Demonstrating an understanding of the different types of risk, within the firm’s approach and policies for managing risk; considering and managing reputational, operational and credit risk in all interactions with clients

·Use time effectively to carry out work whilst maintaining quality and attention to detail

·Producing work for the manager and/or partner review, clearly highlighting issues and providing potential solutions

·Business development, identifying additional sales opportunities and identifying areas requiring improvement in the client’s business processes, prepare and deliver Audit Findings Reports to be provided to the client

·Demonstrating an application and solution-based approach to problem solving

·Taking primary responsibility for monitoring progress against budget, and when the actual differs from the budget then gain a full understanding for the Manager

·Carry out accounts work as required

·Coaching and supporting junior staff members

To be a serious contender for this role, applicants will have the following skill, experience and attributes:

·ACA/ACCA/CA part qualified

·Minimum of two years auditing and accounting experience (ideally UKGAAP) gained within practice

·Be an excellent communicator, both written and verbally

·Have good research and presentation skills

·Strong IT skills; Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Audit Senior

Our client, a Top 20 accountancy firm is looking to recruit an Audit Senior to join the audit/assurance team at its Reading office. This role will predominantly involve audit (approximately 80%) accounts work and also assurance projects including governance and risk reviews.

Within this role, the Audit Senior will have the following responsibilities:

·Undertaking statutory audits, being involved in all stages of the audit from planning, to onsite fieldwork and completion

·Show initiative and a willingness to take responsibility for ownership and completion of each audit assignment within the agreed budget and within deadlines

·Act as the principal contact for the client during the on-site fieldwork and follow up on client queries once on-site work is completed

·Manage on-site teams and assist in the supervision and development of more junior staff, providing training where appropriate and ensuring work is appropriately allocated according to the team members abilities and development, and complete job review forms for all junior staff on the same assignment

·Review and assist in the preparation of client accounts

·Adhere to deadlines and keep the manager/partner informed of progress at all times

·Take responsibility for own work, prioritising as necessary and keep technically up to date

·Undertake additional duties as reasonably required

·Be qualified ACA or ACCA with at least three years’ experience gained within practice

Tax Manager

A highly successful, Top 15 accountancy firm is recruiting for a Tax Manager to join the team at its office in Reading. The key responsibility of this position will be to manage the corporate tax team to ensure client satisfaction at all times; building client relationships and managing and nurturing team members.
Reporting to the Tax Director, the Tax Manager will have the following responsibilities:
Preparation and review of large company tax computations
Tax planning work; predominantly corporate, although some personal tax work too
Managing the tax team
Assisting the Tax Director with various ad hoc work as it arises such as technical research, reorganisations, reconstructions, transfer pricing and R&D claims
VAT advice
Reviewing the work of trainee accountants and offering advice and guidance where appropriate
To assist in marketing taxation services with the partners and directors
The successful candidate will take on a portfolio of mainly corporate clients and will potentially be looking after the corporate tax service for some large companies with complex tax requirements.
