We are recruiting for a VAT Manager to join an expanding Top 100 accountancy firm at its modern and spacious office in Oxford. This is a key role that offers flexible working and the potential to be full-time or part-time.

This innovative firm has a client base comprising private clients, owner-managed businesses and large international subsidiaries and has a specialist team acting for international businesses, advising on international tax for firms looking to establish overseas offices and foreign companies investing in the UK.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in providing VAT Advisory Services to existing clients and offer specialist VAT advice on complicated transactions.

As VAT Manager your responsibilities will include:

· To be actively responsible for all commercial aspects of VAT work undertaken and optimising financial outcomes, leading and managing the firms VAT advisory services provided to both existing clients and on new assignments and projects
· Conduct in-depth reviews of clients’ business tax systems to establish if their VAT is being dealt with thoroughly and accurately and advise on a beneficial VAT structure ensuring compliance and payments are made on time
· Contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of indirect tax services to the client
· Have input into the development of consultancy work and projects for the firm as a whole, cross selling to other departments and assist colleagues with general VAT advice to clients
· Review prepared VAT returns; liaise and negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients
· Plan and manage assignments ensuring completion to high standards and within budget
· To contribute to winning new work by proactively managing existing clients and networking to win new clients
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and communicate effectively to enable partners and staff to enhance their VAT awareness
· Assisting the firm’s training function, as required
· Managing the successful delivery of VAT projects, ensuring technical excellence and practical/business driven approach is taken
The requirements for this role are as follows:

· Be qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CTA with 3-4 years tax/VAT experience within practice
· Proven track record of professional experience in providing VAT advisory services
· Strong client relationship skills
· Proven project management and collaborative leadership skills with the ability to prioritise and meet tight timeframes with high quality output
· Experience and willingness to network and develop new business leads
· Extensive experience in cooperating with HMRC
· Strong communication skills, verbal and written
· Exceptional attention to detail
· Strong IT skills

Outsourcing Manager

A leading accountancy practice in Oxford is looking to recruit an Outsourcing Manager to join its team to ensure that a high-quality service is provided by the team to clients This position is available due to a significant demand from clients for outsourced accountancy services.

As Outsourcing Manager your responsibilities will include:

· Being the primary day-to-day contact for an allocated portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for all duties up to and including the production of (often complex) management information
· Data processing activities to include bank transactions, sales and purchase ledger items, expense claims and all other general ledger postings, journals etc
· Analytically review results and analyse key performance indicators for your clients
· Ensure that allocated teams are keeping all accounting systems up to date and accurate within the agree time frames
· Review VAT returns, EC sales lists and Intrastat returns
· Prepare basic statutory financial statements for clients with little or no supervision, having an awareness of the disclosure requirements of the Companies Act
· Prepare an audit file which could be provided to the client’s auditors, with supporting schedules for all balance sheet items
· Carry out ad hoc assignments, often to include budgeting and assistance with cash flow forecasting and training clients in use of their accounting systems
· Assist with tendering to potential new clients as well as the implementation phase for new engagements
· Liaise and collaborate with other departments to identifying cross-selling opportunities
· Promote the interests of the firm to clients, prospective clients and other third parties
· Assist with portfolio allocation across the wider team and monitor time allocations, budgets and deadlines, including data insight for internal management reporting and checklist monitoring
· Line manage and develop more junior members of the team.
We welcome applications from candidates with the following skills, experience and attributes:

· Be qualified (minimum AAT qualified and studying further) with a minimum of 4-5 years UK practice experience, preferably within an outsourcing team
· A positive and confident self-starter, who understands the importance of maintaining positive client relationships as well as internal collaboration
· Knowledge of UKGAAP and preferably IFRS
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Exceptional attention to detail, demonstrating an organised approach to work; an ability to prioritise and meet tight time frames with high quality output
· Strong IT skills; specifically Xero and Excel, Sage and CCH would be an advantage alongside the ability to pick up new software packages very quickly
